Opt for neutral large-scale colors (e.g., walls). A dining room that has feng shui appeal will often have neutral, earth tone-inspired colors used on large surfaces, such as walls or the tabletop itself. Some of these hues might include pink, peach, yellow, and cream.
Take for example the crockery cabinet which can be placed as a divider between the living room and the dining room. There are other dividers which can be chosen of course, like glass partitions and curtains but a crockery cabinet has a dual fold function as a divider and as furniture to store some of the China in.
Since standard height tables are preferred by many, you'll find them in many different designs and makes. Sadly, this is not the case with counter height tables, because it's a relatively new trend that is slowly catching up. Also, if you have a counter height table, and wish to buy seating for the same, you'll find that most chairs are made to match tables of regular height. Hence, you'd probably need to get them custom-made to suit your tastes and home dcor.
You can creatively use wood to decorate your ceiling. It will not only provide a luxurious look, but will also add warmth to the dining area. Either you can cover your entire wall with wooden planks that match with your dining room furniture, or just one long plank. In both the cases, add sufficient lighting for an enhanced effect. Wooden ceilings also add a rustic look to the dining room. Alternatively, you can try a cathedral frame with skylights. This will change the total look of your dining room while making it look bigger and airy.
